Hi. With this pull request I submit small set of changes intended for de-glib'ification of the cve-check-tool.

After the whole series being applied update.c uses no code from glib. For more information on changes please take look at the commit description messages.

Tested by compiling and running against outdated database.

And as always comments and suggestions always welcome.
