nm-applet fails to connect to password authenticated wifi #2814

Open zeekisthename opened 1 year ago

zeekisthename commented 1 year ago

Description of problem: network-manager-applet quits when attempting to enter password/connect to wifi access point.

This issue was recently addressed and resolved here:

https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2158848 . and appears to be occuring with clear linux if Intel is utilizing unpatched upstream redhat code

clear linux isn't patching the NM world at all afaik (we for some time did make NM not do ethernet but dropped that long ago)...

I'll check the bugreport out

(fwiw I did connect to a new secure wifi using the nm gui yesterday just fine with one of the latest builds so it's at least not totally bork for sure)

the report claims the fix is in version 1.10.6 but we're already at version 1.10.6 ... so this does not sound like the issue you're having

Seem to recall reading some time ago that clear linux utilizes upstream redhat rpm code and this would account for the problem manifesing in fedora as well.

Doing a swupd repair of NetworMangager, NetworkManager-extras, and wpa_supplicant does not resolve the issue.

The issue manifests in xfce as well as gnome.

I don't know where you read that but clear linux is not based on and does not reuse Red Hat OS code.
