OwnCloud - http://owncloud.com - has added ampache support, so potential ampache users have increased greatly (and will hopefully keep increasing), would be nice to have ampache support in Clementine.

{I know it is a kind of +1 post, but it adds a motivation for developers to implement the feature a bit sooner :)}

Well I just set up an Ampache and an OwnCloud Server. It would really be useful if Clementine would support it. In fact Clementine is my favorite player and I installed it everywhere I came along, so it would be a shame, if I had to use an other player for Ampache.

This would be helpful as this is currently the ONLY viable solution for Mac OS X, since Amarok must be built from source and the resulting binaries are hit-or-miss.

I don't know if the right people will read this, I hope so!

Clementine is really the best audio player i've seen. A lot of bugs were fixed in the latest release (1.1) and now it is almost perfect!

My suggestion is a fundamental design concept enhancement: Make Clementine more social, use more streaming capabilities which other players already use. Combine all these things, so that anyone can use Clementine as a frontend for streaming from any modern music server.

For example: Music Player Daemon Ampache XMPP (like Tomahawk, streaming over XMPP, so everybody who has Clementine and a jabber account can listen to music from friends who also have Clementine and a jabber account) ... ...

I personally think, THIS should be the main focus for Clementine 2.0! The player is already sooo good, what is really missing are these "network" things!

Ampache can be accessed through Subsonic API so you just have these prerequisites : https://github.com/ampache/ampache/wiki/API#subsonic-api

Then, you can use Ampache via Subsonic service.

However there is a small bug. I'm fixing this and I pull request :)

Ampache may be accessible through Subsonic API, but Owncloud isn't. So I request to reopen this issue since only Ampache support will make Clementine work with OC.

IMHO it would be more simple that Owncloud Music supports Subsonic API (https://github.com/owncloud/music/issues/329). And I think we should open a new issue ("support Ampache plugin of Owncloud Music" for example).
