On Windows XP, running Clementine (but not iconified to the notification area) results in having the artist name followed by the song name in the task bar (and of course as the title of the Clementine window). If you have long artist names, you don't see the song names in the task bar. I think it is more relevant to have first the song name followed by the artist one.

PS: I hope my request is clear and it has not have been asked before. Thanks for the great job on this player so far.

I don't think this is a good idea - it's always artist and then song and we wouldn't want to confuse our users. Use notifications or tray icon.

PS. I've just checked - foobar has the same behaviour.

And I could answer that Amarok 1.4 had the behaviour I was asking ;) http://amarok.kde.org/files/amarok14/shot7.png But they changed it in version 2.x

Online music site Deezer is also using the classification I recommend (title of the tab in your web browser).

Without the will of being polemic, the title song is the one element that distinguishes one song from another. It should go first since it is the major weight information carrier (imho).

PS: I knew about notifications and tray icon. But the task bar allows you at glance to know what you're hearing without the need of moving the mouse or not missing the pop-up when the track is changing.

You could also try setting a global shortcut for "Show OSD" feature - you'd be able to pop it up using just keyboard, also this would give you the complete information.

Also, maybe Amarok is reversing those but it's also sticking it's name in front. ;)

I still think that for sake of consistency this should stay as it is. Nevertheless, "Song by Arist" definitely sounds better than "Song - Artist" IMHO so...

Let's leave this open for discussion.
