Maybe it should be added as a general option (which version of ID3 you are using). This is something which is not clear at the moment and would help improving the tag editing menu introduced in 0.7.

This is an important topic, editing my tags with Clementine makes Windows 7 and Zune don't detecting them.

I agree... This is an important issue! I am forced to use a 3rd party tag editor (I use Mp3Tag) to make sure my ID3 tags are v. 2.3 instead of v. 2.4 which Clementine uses

Yes, please. Now I'm suffering of cause of this... it is not easy to revert back like ~40k tracks from id3v2.4.0 to id3v2.3.0 ... it is a total pain...
Now, imagine if you have a large collection and have to fix a large number of files from different parts because of a typo or artist name correction... >-<

Any estimation when this will be implemented? This should be a basic function and I think Amarok 1.4 had it too ;)
:+1:
Also, Clementine doesn't seem to read any of the ID3 or ID3v2 custom tags from MP3 files saved by Foobar2000. They don't show up in Edit track information -> Edit tags. Probably #788.
I'd like this a lot too! Apparently the most recent/best way is ID3v2.4 UTF-8 but some other/older software has limited read-write support for this. Most of the times I use Picard for tagging and this version is supported but I'm not entirely sure what version(s) Clementine saves to the file or indexes in the DB. And I still have some version of Winamp I use from time to time for nostalgic reasons... 😄

This option would be most useful when managing music with portable MP3 players. A lot of them still doesn't understand ID3 tags in the 2.4 version, and only read tags in the 2.3 format. This is also noticed by some MP3 diagnostic tools.
