Silence detection seems too agressive #4333

Open xhikofff opened 10 years ago

xhikofff commented 10 years ago

Several slow paced songs in my library with quieter endings are being cut off before the ending, sometimes even when there are vocals still left in the song (e.g. Oceansea - Breathing, it is being cut off before 3 verses are sung).

I've tried several fading durations, from 2500 ms to 100 ms, and saw no changes regarding this issue. I've also tried disabling and changing the replaygain settings but there was no effect either.

I using Clementine 1.2.3 on Xubuntu 14.04.

Just let me know if any more info is needed.

davidsansome commented 10 years ago

Err... Clementine doesn't have silence detection. Can you upload one of the affected songs somewhere? Was Clementine working properly with these songs in a previous version?

xhikofff commented 10 years ago

:D Interesting, I thought I saw an old issue requesting it, and that had been closed because it was implemented... maybe I'm working too hard lately...

I haven't used Clementine (or any other desktop player) in a while so I'm not sure, do you recommend any specific previous version for me to test?

I've uploaded the file here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/gs80pmnbnj9asc9/Oceansea%20-%20%282008%29%20Songs%20From%20The%20Bedroom%20Floor%20-%2002%20-%20Breathing.mp3

Edit: the song is being cut at around 3:30.

Hmm that song plays fine here - not sure what the problem could be.

xhikofff commented 10 years ago

Are there debug/troubleshooting steps I could do to try and see what is going on?

ooker777 commented 10 years ago

Me too. Seems like this is a common bug.

Same problem here on debian jessie. Clementine skips the last ~3s. Happened with 1.2.0 from sid and 1.2.3 from upstream, so I guess there is a program clementine depends on to blame.

I took a small video at which you can see, that clementine changes the song at 2:26 allthough the song takes 2:30 http://files.mdosch.de/2014-06/clementine.webm

No I heard about 2 hours music without this issue. The difference: I heard self-ripped flacs for the last 2 hours and I heard amazon autorip-mp3 when the I had the issue.
