feature request: Delay between playback of songs #4434

When a song finishes and before a new one is picked from the playlist, I would like an option to introduce a delay. The delay period should be configurable. The default delay period can be 0 seconds.

I need this delay as it helps prevent burnout. I experience fatigue when listening to songs continuously while working. A delay between songs, however, makes me very productive.

This feature was present in a very old version of Amarok (more than 10 years back). I used to love it but they sadly removed it.

I stumbled onto this because I was searching in google on how to do this in Clementine. (So I'm disappointed it can't be done, but...) I think it would be an excellent feature to add!

This is a very old issue, but it's still relevant today.

I just installed Clementine, and noticed it doesn't allow silence between tracks. That would be a nice feature to have.

If Clementine is being used play music in a traditional dance hall (not a bar or a loud party), silence between tracks is almost a necessity, for two different but related reasons. First, it clearly lets dancers know when a song is over. Second, its gives them the opportunity to find a new dance partner.

A few random links:

The fatigue point is also a good one. In the old days, a company called Muzak used to sell background music to big stores, and the music was quite carefully and deliberately programmed to play for 15 minutes and be followed by 15 minutes of silence. Their research showed that this decreased listening fatigue. I think they were on to something.
