Issue 1098 has been merged into this issue.

The same issue occurs with Sansa Fuze+ MP3 player. The player itself is recognized properly, however no "supported formats" can be selected for transcoding.
Another option would be to have a dialog where users can specify their own rules for transcoding (a'la Mediamonkey). For example, I could have a rule specifying IF source_format == FLAC THEN Transcode to OGG, quality setting 6.

I also have the Fuze +, and the Clementine doesn't recognize that it can play flac and ogg files. If I tell Clementine to transfer files to it, it will fail with my ogg and flac files. This is with 0.6 version of Clementine on windows.

Issue still exists in r2773

Same for HTC Desire HD device (Android 2.2). Would be really handy to have an option to select what user device supports.

Just thought to share that the program fails to properly detect formats supported and there is still no way to manually config the device in Clementine.

I can second that it's still not possible to tell Clementine which formats a given player device supports :( Are there any plans to implement this?

I would also like the ability to copy MP3s and OGGs as-is, but transcode FLACs to OGG when copying to a device.

since even the libMTP devices seem to report false information about support (galaxy s3 reports WMA and MP3) it would be great to have a small override-field there.

What steps will reproduce the problem? 1. Plug in and mount my music player (Motorola Droid).
I see no "Supported formats" list, and the "Convert any music that the device can't play" is (of course) disabled. What version of the product are you using? On what operating system? $ apt-cache policy clementine clementine: Installed: 0.5.90~ r2169 ~lucid Candidate: 0.5.90~ r2169 ~lucid Version table: *\ 0.5.90~ r2169 ~lucid 0 500 http://ppa.launchpad.net/me-davidsansome/clementine-dev/ubuntu/ lucid/main Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status Please provide any additional information below. My music collection is a mix of OGG, MP3, and FLAC files. This means that choosing "Convert all music" (to say, OGG format) is not a great workaround, as this will needlessly convert all my MP3 files. I also don't want to just choose "Do not convert any music", because my player cannot play FLAC files (and even if it could, I would prefer to transcode to a more compact format when copying).
A simple multi-select widget with known music formats (like Amarok 1 had) would work nicely, I think. For bonus points, if the device looks like it might be an Android device, Clementine could make the set of Android-supported formats the default selection, so Grandma doesn't have to ever open Device properties to get sync with her phone working (but don't limit Android devices to this set, because 3rd party software could add support for some other format).
