"I got an error when trying to reply." #2

Hello, I'm receiving the "I got an error when trying to reply" response when attempting to utilize the context menu for selected text within a note. I did supply my Open AI key in the plugin settings and am able to chat with the AI mentor through the chat interface; it appears to just be the context menu actions that are returning the error response.

Hi, thanks for opening an issue. Can you provide a bit more context? I have two ideas: either you are selecting too much text prior to your click to the context menu (so there are too many tokens for gpt to handle it) or you are not selecting any text before the use of the option.

If your case is the last one, I have two options:

I'm sorry for the lack of clarity, I'll fix that asap. What do you prefer?

Thanks :)

Thanks for the reply. I can say that I did select text, and it was no more than a paragraph. At the moment, however, I can't provide a screenshot of that: I'm now not even getting the ELI5 option in the context menu anymore, nor is the hotkey I set up working so I can't replicate the issue. I just updated my Obsidian to 1.4, which was released today - any chance that may be playing a role in this new issue of not even being able to see or interact with ELI5 or any of the other selected text options?

Figured the above out: was in reading mode. Switched to edit mode, and the context menu back as well as the hot key functionality.

Back to the original problem, still receiving the same error response. For reference, here's the sample text I selected for ELI5:

"Additionally, quantum physics introduces the concept of quantum entanglement, where two or more particles become interconnected in such a way that the state of one particle is instantly correlated with the state of another, regardless of the distance between them. This phenomenon has been experimentally verified and has implications for fields such as quantum computing and cryptography."

Here's the error response:

Sorry for the late answer. May I know three things?

  1. Which model do you use in the settings?
  2. Your obsidian version,
  3. Does you api key work on other app such as https://anse.app/ or gpt4all ?
