Character Design - Lem

1. CHARACTER SHEET:

Design Lem Version 2.0: A new Character Sheet (3 poses is fine) based on descriptions and character references from our new Lem design picks. Use the "Lem in Space" Sheet.

2. LEM RUN CYCLE:

Create a Lem Sprite Sheet - 12 frame RUN CYCLE. "Lem in Space" provides a rudimentary example and screen/size/reference.

PIXEL ART REQUIREMENTS:

Example of a 2D 'Platformer' side-ways view with directional aiming, and jumping:

Notes: Please upload all content to either this thread or the github repository. If you don't know how to use the repository, you can upload all your work to the task page (here) and we'll add it to the repo for you.

Character Concept Draft:

Goals: To further evolve Lem's concept towards a final version w/ our art director. We are looking for your "style" and "polish" to enhance our existing concepts and would like to either use your materials in, or towards creating a "final" version.

*you enter into all character concepts and game work with the common understanding that all material pertaining to this game is confidential and not for public disclosure until official release.

Some good ideas! The prototype arm-gun design is especially helpful, and animation demo was nice, the jump is great, love the linework.

-You got the stance down for Lem, that's what we are looking for. -He is a little too young/mechanoid in style, but -we like where you are going with the hair/attire ideas

New concept board for Lem. Focus now is on the basic sprite sheet. Katie says: the sprite I made is just a guideline, it doesn't even fit "sprite art" criteria or rules yet, so it's up to them on "block size" style. leminspacegude

Here for the sprite I making it modular it can switch weapon or armor for upgrade, Pixel size every frame is 128 & 256

Good contribution! -Nice touch on 3/4 view animation details, definitely in the right direction for the game aesthetic/vision. -Lem's face/hair are closer to what we are looking for than before here. -Closer to mega-man/astro aesthetic - good (without seeming too derivative-cartoonish) -He is closer to age-range and the sprite is a good size.

-Still appears a little young but not far off. -Lem's legs/backside a little thic (haha) -Decisions on line/shadows will solidify soon - this helps w/ direction -We will tweak for personality and general body/type/lines/etc. adjustment for the next update/task.

Love the modular decisions on the armor: the weapons are good general examples of what we're looking for too. More prototyping/decisions must be done on our end as well for future tasks. Thanks!
