Thanks for praise and the feedback! Here are some responses to the UX issues you raised:

The left side scroll position indicators are meant to be a purely visual element (they also don't exist on mobile). Perhaps there's a better way to indicate to the user that they are not interactive. They are designed this way because the app is meant to be simple in its usage, and to provide users with a one way flow through each of the steps, rather than jump around arbitrarily between them. There's also nothing that tells the user which each dot represents, so if they were interactive a user would likely be clicking on them some what arbitrarily, until they had a full mental model of each of the steps which seems like a lot to ask of someone.

For the scroll behavior what type of mouse are you using? I do not experience this issue on a laptop trackpad, but it's a valid point to test it with other types of mouse hardware. You can also use the up and down arrow keys to navigate between sections.
