I'm on this
Also getting this - purely on the grounds it's got historic climate data through the years, so to me it looks more valuable.
size estimate: 16G using lftp du -h
At 5.7GB right now, getting there...
I am also cloning
I was able to get all 16GB. Working on a way to make it publicly accessible now.
Completed.
md5sum for verification
find ftp.ncdc.noaa.gov/pub/data/normals/ -type f -exec md5sum {} \; | grep -v '.listing' | sort -k 2 | md5sum 872de3e28379149c42022c67ad166f33 -
@axlecrusher Thanks! @ivanstegic @blueacid Please post md5sum when you can. Thanks!
Ok, I made a torrent for this. Please let me know if magnet link is working. I also found out more about this data set.
Description: Includes data from 1931-2010. Climate Normals are three-decade averages of climatological variables including temperature and precipitation. This product is produced once every 10 years. The 1981–2010 U.S. Climate Normals dataset is the latest release of NCEI’s Climate Normals. This dataset contains daily and monthly Normals of temperature, precipitation, snowfall, heating and cooling degree days, frost/freeze dates, and growing degree days calculated from observations at approximately 9,800 stations operated by NOAA’s National Weather Service. Meteorologists and climatologists regularly use Climate Normals for placing recent climate conditions into a historical context. Size: 10.5GB
