This data set seems to be old data. I think it only has data up to 2004. NASA website says new data can be found here: http://data.remss.com/ssmi/. They also have an FTP server but it is locked by username/password. See https://podaac.jpl.nasa.gov/SSMI and http://www.remss.com/missions/ssmi for reference.
