FAILURE EXITING WINDOW DIALOG #696

Open adomdesmond opened 2 years ago

adomdesmond commented 2 years ago

I was uploading an external daily data file for precipitation and I forgot to specify the element code. When I clicked on the button to upload the file, it gave me an error message. Now my challenge is that the system does not exit to allow me to do the correction. I have attached the screenshots for your reference. This is a programming issue that must be addressed. I could not close Climsoft. I had to force shut down my computer. The issue is when you click on the OK button that pops up in the dialog, the window is supposed to close. However, that never happened. I suggest that the algorithm to exit the window should be edited. The procedure just keeps looping without terminating. Just try the mistake I made to see the challenge I am talking about.

@adomdesmond I haven't seen any screenshot. Please send it again and we will resolve the issue or advise on how to go about it.

The problem was that I kept clicking OK all the time without the dialog exiting. Thanks for your response.

@adomdesmond : Thank you so much for raising these issues that require the attention of Climsoft development team. It is always good to support your argument with a screenshot of the dialog. I also suggest that you add the issues sent earlier in the word document to @smachua ( e.g something you raised relating to the improvement of the calculator of dew point and RH,etc. ). Feel free to create a new issue, give a clear title to the issue and add screenshot of dialog for clarity.

Thank you, I will do that.

@smachua. I present the attached document of my suggestions and recommendations for your attention. Climsoft Review2022.docx If you need clarity on anything, let me know. I am still learning about Climsoft and I hope to gather much information from this collaboration.

@smachua : TWO DIFFERENT CODES FOR PAST WEATHER I was setting Column Headers for multiple data imports and I noticed that there are the codes 93-PASTWX and 851-pstWx. Kindly specify which represents the code for past weather. Find the case in the attached image file. 2022-06-07 (2) Thank you

smachua commented 2 years ago

@adomdesmond the element codes 93 and 851 represent Past Weather (1) and Past Weather (2) respectively. In some rare cases there happen to be two types of past weather that require reporting in the SYNOP code. Hence the need to have two different codes accommodate those observations.
