yeah, we discussed this a bit https://github.com/clinton-hall/nzbToMedia/commit/41c0862f800b4f0fd4ab39017ddef68737f6987b#comments
Oh I see, thanks for pointing me to the discussion. Would I be right in saying that this branch isn't in a "working/useable" state at this time and is a work in progress still? Or are there some steps I need to follow to compile the nzbToMedia script(s) into binaries and then have a new extension script call the executable(s) so that it can pass all config items, as you guys discussed?
Still a work in progress, but is quite useable.
you don't need to compile anything, can just create the script to call the nzbToMedia files. If you have nzbToMedia clones into your scripts directory, you should be able to create a script inside your scripts directory that then calls the nzbToMedia.py. The following example is an sh script (so this would be named nzbToMedia.sh or similar)....
#!/bin/sh

### NZBGET POST-PROCESSING SCRIPT ###
##############################################################################
#
./nzbToMedia/nzbToMedia.py
exit $?
Since this script is pretty basic, you can play with it to make it look better and do what you want... this uses all of the config items in nzbToMedia, so it is pretty full-on in regards to config options.
So you can remove a lot of the options you don't use to only show the config for what you need (see for example the old (current master) versions of nzbToSickBeard vs nzbToHeadPhones etc, as these have less total config options then the whole nzbToMedia.
You can change that second from last line to call just call nzbToSickBeard.py or which ever of the scripts you usually call.
You can even specify which Python version to call /usr/bin/python3.9 nzbToMedia/nzbToSickBeard.py
Describe the bug I decided to trial the deadsnakes branch to compare the advantages and possible improvements to the script as well as the full power of Python 3. I am a fan of cutting edge hence my decision to try this branch. The NZBGet settings ask for the parent folder name containing scripts (extension scripts) which previously pointed to the original version of nzbToMedia, I have pointed the path to the deadsnakes branch of nzbToMedia, however it does not populate the settings page with all the available scripts. I have looked at the documentation here: https://nzbget.net/extension-scripts and it states that all extension scripts need to have a "Configuration definition" (which appears to be a signature header text). For example, I can see that there has been a lot of refactoring and flattening of files such that the
nzbToMedia.py
is including the main codebase it needs fromnzb2media.app
, however in doing so, this means that thenzbToMedia.py
file does not have the "Configuration definition" signature header text, hence it why it doesn't appear in NZBGet as a script to configure.Technical Specs
Expected behavior I expected to see all the extension scripts that are contained within the nzbToMedia folder listed in the UI which are then configurable.
Log (no logs to show at this time)
I am tagging @labrys since he appears to be the major contributor in this rewriten branch of nzbToMedia.
