/join ?

and is that something I can change? I think I know how, but didn't want to mess anything up.

Okay, saw the join page, not sure if anything links to it yet, but put the same text there as on become-a-sponsor-or-member.

It should be, but this would require tracking down things that link to this page. At this point, we (I) don't have time to ensure this is done without breaking everything. We'll look at the URL structure after the launch and fix these things.
