Addition of .gitignore at the root of source code tree #90

Compilation creates a couple of files that are not ignored by the git 
repository, creating a risk to commit unwanted files to the source tree if 
committer is not careful.

Patch attached implements that. Back-patching it would create no harm, but I 
let the decision to the committer.
