I followed every step in the instructions, but the driver is not being used. none wireless interface has been created idk why.

Kali Linux 2020.1b amd64 Kernel 5.5.0 Adapter: DLINK DWA 131 Rev. E1; Chipset RTL8192EU

i had the same problem, Doing the manual install together with make and rebooting did somehow make the adapter usable (but still no monitor mode)

can you send the output of dmesg + lsusb ?
