Happy birthday study group 💃 I like the Gleisdreiecks-Park, it has swings ;)
aww this sounds so wonderful! I will make a birthday card (:
I made a doodle re #When http://doodle.com/poll/mdfk4nk7zx7qp2xu
Paulus and I were actually thinking of throwing an open Clojure Berlin picknick on the 19 July for Euroclojure ppl in town. (So the clojure berlin people who can't go because of the steep price can connect with the conf goers as well). I'd love to change/include the theme into the 2 year anniversary of the study group. Question is do we want to make this public and have more people to celebrate our community anniversary with?
@jellea i think yes, to me that sounds awesome!! july 19 is also looking good from the doodle. but, if we open the invite up to euroclojure peeps do you think we could get sponsor $$ from one of clojureberlin's contact companies? then we could buy some food and drinks, rather than just potluck style.
cc @pesterhazy @socksy
Yeah maybe we should get some food sponsored, handy for people who aren't from Berlin. It means more organisational work though: finding sponsors, shopping, garbage, etc.
Another thought: It might clash with a potential speaker dinner? Maybe we should reach out to the euroclojure org?
good point. @jellea let's just do it potluck style. I don't really have extra bandwidth right now to contact sponsors etc. Unless you or @pesterhazy would be keen to take that on.
Re speakers dinner clash, paulus would know about this too? Although tbh I don't really care about that too much. Speakers could come by after their dinner shrug.
We could consider taking some money from our Travis account, afaik there's still a lot on it. Not sure how people feel about this esp. if the scope of invited people widens but feels worth consideration.
Also picnic sounds super duper. Will be lots of fun. I can bring an aerobie and a kubb game :)

Maybe I am just anti-social, but I would prefer a more small, intimate setting for the study group picknick, i.e. not opening it up to a wide range of unfamiliar people.
This sounds like a great idea :+1:. I probably won't be able to come as I'm busy during the week. I haven't heard about a speakers dinner, but agree with @vsmart that there will still be plenty of non-speaker out of towners attending who would be interested in joining
Happy to make contact to cognitect if that's relevant
By the way, I can't believe the study group has been around for 2 years, that's amazing! 🎈 🎈
@vsmart Hi as an Historical fact the first meeting was in August 5th 2015 in U-Bhf Hausvogteiplatz in Oberwallstraße 10. When I was working there. And the first team was:
Bianca, Elizabeth, Julia, Kate, Michelle, Tamara, Ben, Jose , Johannes, Andrei.
I've been out for a while but still I have those emails. I'm very glad that the group continues and there is people making it alive.
Weather report for next Wednesday looks great --- sunny and 0% chance of rain.
Should we go ahead with next Wednesday?
@ellenkoenig -- I hear the concerns about the smaller group. I do think it's a nice opportunity to celebrate with Euroclojure people though too
@josetonyp thanks for the data point! So the art study group probably met at the same day. With @jellea , @nblumoe, me and some learners.
I talked with @socksy a bit today and we came to the conclusion that it's now a bit too short notice to organise the picknick for next week and invite euroclojure crowd.
So we'll go with regular study group next week and instead have a picknick only for the study group later in august (august 9th).
@pesterhazy @martinklepsch if you're organising a ClojureBerlin pre-euroclojure get-together, let us know anyway and we can come by after the study group.
Summer flew by -- & we didn't manage to have the anniversary party :/ We can try again for our 3rd birthday next year -- (or perhaps a xmas party?) Closing this for now.
This summer our study group turns 2! It time to celebrate.
When?
I couldn't find the exact date of the original first study group - the first workshop was late June 2015, and I think the study group happened shortly after. So my guess is around July 2015.
We can find a date in July that works!
