@lucakato Could you please move the word doc changes and CSS to other designated branches to isolate the date parsing fixes here? Or create a new branch and PR for just the date parsing changes

@kwheelan please review! also, the issue this PR fixes has number #85 but since this branch's name is #83, I made a new branch #83-custom-lines-new which is for future issue #83 work.
