do a manual update of the firmware with robotc. its in the same menu for auto update.

go to view > select communication ports and make sure a com port is selected when the cortex is connected

I did that but it didnt work. I fixed the cortex by using the Vex Firmware upgrade tool found on their Wiki page. Thanks for the help, Mason
