Strange debug mode output #67

I had assumed that the debug mode would output just the text that is spoken. 
(perhaps my assumption is wrong?) Instead the debug console has a mess which 
includes what look like recursions of the current element and all of the other 
elements on the page. I can demonstrate if you want.

While the reading and behavior does not seem to be affected (which makes this 
technically a low priority), I worry that this is indicative of a logic issue 
that might blow up in our face at some point.
