Saving no longer works #284

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 8 years ago

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Open any of my Google Docs LaTeX documents.
2. Press "Save No".

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Instead of the file saving I get an error message which can be either "unable
to convert document" or simply "sorry, there was a problem, please try again."

What version of the product are you using? On what browser?
Using Google Chrome version 13.0.782.112 on Ubuntu Linux 11.04, and the version
of latexlab current on August 15 2011, however I had this issue a couple of
months back too when I last tried to use it, possibly without the error
messages, but saving did not work. It used to work prior to that.

Please provide any additional information below.

The same error occurs in Firefox 5.0 on the same system. However the behaviour
is different between two different documents. In a larger file, the document
gives "unable to convert" and fails to save. In a smaller document, I get
"sorry, there was a problem" when saving, yet despite this the save is carried
out. Presumably either the size or content of the larger document causes the
issue.

I'm also experiencing this problem, but it doesn't seem to be size related. I
had a file that I've been editing for a while, and all of a sudden, saving gave
me an "unable to convert" error. However when I copy-and-paste the content of
the document into a new document, it saved without problems.

Thanks for your input. I tried again to save a certain file that was causing
problems earlier, and it again didn't work. However when copy/pasting the exact
same content into a newly created document, it saved just fine. I noticed there
was another (or several) issue reports about re-saving in particular, perhaps
in combination with certain characters. For example:

http://code.google.com/p/latex-lab/issues/detail?id=12

The report concludes that after adding Spanish characters, saving works
initially, but once the document is closed and reopened it no longer works.
Granted it's an old report, but it sounds familiar. My troublesome document
does not contain Spanish, but it may have Scandinavian characters, and
certainly has a wide variety of scientific notation which I suppose could also
be possible culprits.
