Unable to play older mpeg-4 xvid video #2507

This video will not play at all in fact it skips the video completely as if it does not exist.

Verified no problem with file itself as it plays in VLAN Player just fine, but I prefer to only use mpc-hc.

Actually the file is broken. VLC also has issues after seeking near end.

You can fix the file by remuxing it with MkvToolNix. Edit: it only recovers first 17 minutes.

It shows this error/warning:

filename.mkv: Error in the Matroska file structure at position 141036396. Resyncing to the next level 1 element.
The last timestamp processed before the error was encountered was 00:17:04.775000000.
Resync failed: no valid Matroska level 1 element found.
