Move unused code into a side development branch and clean up main branch

Aim is to ensure main branch has clean working copy

there is old code, useful to keep as example of class vs module solution

however in short term do:

• review reader, readerclass and read_system_config
• move a copy of main int a branch to work on later
• then delete these multi solutions from main
