Project Update for 11-16

This week not much progress was made on the physical project itself, as we are in a sort of "limbo" with the markup being all finished and us not having enough SVG experience to figure out how to visually display our data just yet. What progress was made was in terms of the site. There is now a new color scheme and a new layout that was aimed to mimic Spotify, feel free to check it out and give feedback. Mostly, what was discussed during the meeting was about the future and about the reading view of our songs and their respective tones, moods, and topics. It was decided that the topics would be displayed as having different text colors, the tones would be highlighted in different colors and the moods would be listed above their respective stanzas. This would be done through XSLT, in which Camryn is handling, with the assistance of Chris and Ashely as need be. In the meantime, Chris and Ashely are wire-framing some graphs so we can come to the next meeting with some idea on how we want to display our data graphically.

I really like your new layout and I think it was really clever to go for a Spotify inspired theme! I also really liked the bar at the bottom where I imagine you will be able to play each song? Very creative! In terms of the site design I think you could even add a bit more green/color as it is a little dark currently. I also think that it might be nice to put a border around the list of songs on the library page, or something to make it a little clearer that it is scrollable. These are all little tweaks, and you may have even been planning them originally. Great work!

Like Emily said above, I really like your new design scheme for the site. The fade-in as you open a page from your menu bar is a really interesting choice. What inspired that? I also noticed you had an illustrated icon for one of your artists. Are you going to be continuing that theme on the other thumbnails? Actual album or single art I feel safe to assume is off the table due to copyright, so the illustrations seem like a viable choice that also feels a little whimsical, which I like. Keep up the great work!

I LOVE THE SITE!! The current version looks very well put together, and is all easy to read and interact with. As Emily mentioned, I'm curious about if the bottom bar will actually be able to play the original songs out for you - for some reason when I was thinking about that possibility for your project in the past I assumed it wouldn't be possible because of copyrights associated with the music, but if you can do that it would be super fun to have on your page! One tiny note for the "about the artists" section on your home page; Kendrick Lamar is spelled wrong in his intro.. Besides that typo I really have no critiques for your project, you're all doing great!!
