I have always downloaded torrents that come in MP4 and video monkey convert to AVI to play on my TV. Never had an issue.
I just put a new image on my mac and now no converted file plays. Everything done exactly the same and the conversion appears to work.
When I open the converted AVI it says missing codec although I can play all old avi files on my computer it is just the newest files. They also open in MP4 pre conversion which means it is not the original file.
