Consider moving data files into a separate data storage repository #17

It's generally not good to keep large data files in a git repository alongside code, so we could consider moving the data files to a data archive site (that can keep track of versions) such as zenodo or figshare. I could help set up the machinery to download and cache the data files when needed by the code. But this might be more effort than it's worth!

ok, great. when we get to this, it’d be good to have a direct link to the place where the footprints are stored, because I do want to keep providing them in a TOPCAT-friendly format as they are now (or similar).
