won't work on wifi in airplane mode #1034

I've tried several, including the built in one in 2.3.

Why the heck will none of this work unless the phone radio, which it does not 
use, is not turned on?

Wifi works in airplane but not an app that does not need it? Makes no sense at 
all.

I've been on the phone and emailing for hours. Finally someone sugested I boot 
the phone...power down did not work, but booting did...after a couple of times. 

I am now able to get it to work in airplane. Seems the wifi (htc aria) burps 
when air mode is selected or something. You must turn wifi it off and back on, 
boot, then it works. Must be just my phone, htc told me they had never had the 
question and had no idea.
