downwelling_shortwave_flux_in_sea_water_at_sea_ice_base : the guidance on standard names states that at *surface* should precede in *medium*. This is one of 4 standard names which uses a different order. The other 3 are:

Terms such as tendency_of_ocean_mole_content_of_nitrogen_due_to_biological_production have the medium ocean specified at the start, rather than following the guidelines. This is probably a case where the guidelines should be modified because there are many examples and the name is easier to read in this form.

The guidance also states that standard names can take the following form: [surface] [component] standard_name [at surface] [in medium] [due to process] [assuming condition]

Most standard names matching this pattern are of the form: [surface] [component] standard_name_root [at surface] [in medium] [due to process] [assuming condition]

where standard_name_root has the syntax of a standard name, but is not actually a standard name.

The list of surface and media strings in the guidance is incomplete.

Terms such as ocean_volume_x_transport do not follow the pattern [surface] [component] standard_name. Should perhaps be ocean_x_volume_transport?
