Asset: create some site design options #17

Closed ghost closed 2 years ago

Before we build our website, we need to have some idea of the site's structure. For example, what does the navigation look like? How many pages are we going to have? What topic/function does each page serve?

This issue concerns creating some rudimentary site designs, so that we can decide on one at our next meeting.

Review This Document before the class session tomorrow, please. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1592Goxc7bvQj_YcxnRNM6rHKebzxnI6QSB3QNRzC0xI/edit?usp=sharing

No action required, unless you want to add stuff/comment. It's just to help us get on the same page, so we can make some decisions when they split us into affinity groups tomorrow.

$ Non-Profits rely on donations to prosper. It should be easy and obvious how to donate to “Free-Free API Education”. We can have a “Donate” page. There should be transparency about what we do with that money, but it should be below the Donate information (ideally DONATE button). Why? We really love money at “Free-Free API Education”, and we’re going to get as much as we can. That’s okay because we will do better things with it than you, the user-with-money, not our beloved user-who-is-a-learner (I’m practicing some writing now).

So, I have a thought about that google planning doc. In anthropology, for example, there's this notion of an artifact. You go to some museum 100 years from now, and you see couches from this period. And they have a physical board describing all the important people who sat in the couch, and all the ways their users employed the couch. Anyway, the couch is an artifact. The google planning doc is also an artifact, kind of like that couch. Just like a couch can be used for more than sitting, a google planning doc like that can be used for more than just the transfer of information. For example, if all three of us agree, this artifact can serve as a portfolio piece, although one best brought out only in the serious interview stage, and not available publically.

Thoughts?
