No Scroll Bars in Windows #6

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Run TextRoom
2. Write enough text to supersede the screen height.
3.

There are no vertical scroll bar.

TextRoom 0.4.2 on Windows Vista SP1

I assumed scroll bars exist judging by the screen shoots taken from Linux here.

We took out the scrollbars with purpose. It made the appearance awkward.

Ic. Makes sense. I didn't like their design either. However, I do like how they
work
in WriteRoom. the scrollbars there appear only when the mouse is near the edge.
Also
i like the design of the scroll bar in DarkRoom. Just a ◄◄ ◄ ●
► ►► sideways
an a very small square for panning.

Hmm, that's not a bad idea. Before me, Petar put in horizontal scroolbars. I
removed
them. Maybe statusbar can be arranged again to have some kind of navigation
bar. Ok,
I will try to look at that.

In Phrasis, there are navigation icons on the right side. Maybe I can steal
that. ;)

Thanx.

It would be nice if the scroll bar adjusted the color to be the same as the
text.

Maybe I will just add Petar's horizontal scrollbar back. It could be
customized. It
was way better than a vertical scrollbar.

Actually. i think the horizontal one is counter intuitive. The vertical one is
a good
convention. an if it was to fade out it would not be a detraction.

There will be a horizontal scrollbar again in the next release. I prefer
horizontal,
because a vertical scrollbar doesn't look good in a full screen text editor.
