'retinal pigmented epithelium' is a subclass. The two other siblings are taxon
specific subclasses of visual pigment cell. Sensu vertebrata def implies that
the cell is capable_of 'detection of light stimulus involved in visual
perception'. RPEs do not have this function though - they absorb light but
don't really detect it.

It is not entirely clear what the intent of this class was- perhaps a pigment
containing cell that is part of a visual organ? The 'visual pigment cell (sensu
Nematoda and Protostomia)' and subclass terms also have no definition.
