Throughout the egg and early yolk-sac stages until
approximately 630 d, the notochord was unsegmented
and had a uniform sheath of even thickness, encasing a
chordoblast layer and a core of vacuolated chordocytes.
At this stage the chordoblasts were characterised by a
long, thin, elliptical, foot-like basal part connected to the
basement membrane. The chordoblast feet were uniformly
aligned with the cranio-caudal axis, thus defining a
distinct cell polarity (Figs. 1A, 2).
Thus it looks like the unvacuolated cells are called chordoblast and the
vacuolated cells are called chordoblast so we might need a 3 cell type to
represent the development of unvacuolated cells to vacuolated cells
