1 year ago "Chop wood, carry water" is better for helping a community than planting trees, generally, as far as day-to-day effects. You don't plant trees continually. Planting trees is more future-thinking. Chopping wood is more doing the work.
If you are going to change language, it needs to reflect doing the work required to help the immediate group.
Maybe "Gather food, carry water" or something to that effect.
The saying "chop wood and carry water" has become established not only in the community, but beyond. In TAG Environmental Sustainability, we have also recently used the saying "chop wood and carry water" but have changed it to "plant trees and carry water" to better reflect our mission.
I would like to follow up on this thought in the TAG and see if this "idea" can be applied to the entire CNCF and thus rename the award.
