Hyperledger Iroha soak testing stand #109

Please fill out the details below to file a request for access to the CNCF Community Infrastructure Lab. Please note that access is targeted to people working on specific open source projects; this is not designed just to get your feet wet. The most important answer is the URL of the project you'll be working with. If you're looking to learn Kubernetes and related technologies, please try out Katacoda.

First and Last Name

Nikolai Iushkevich

Email

nikolai@soramitsu.co.jp

Company/Organization

Hyperledger; Soramitsu Co., Ltd.

Job Title

Hyperledger Iroha product manager; Project manager at Soramitsu Co., Ltd

Project Title (i.e., summary of what do you want to do, not what is the name of the open source project you're working with)

Soak and longevity testing of Hyperledger Iroha peers in the networks of different configurations

Briefly describe the project (i.e., what is the detail of what you're planning to do with these servers?)

HL Iroha is a distributed system (DLT framework), that runs in a distributed environment. As the project approaches its First Major Release we would like to run soak tests at least for 2 weeks and analyze the performance and stability on several stands, if possible

Is the code that you’re going to run 100% open source? If so, what is the URL or URLs where it is located? What is your association with that project?

All the code is 100% open-source. https://github.com/hyperledger/iroha/ — main repo with the whole code https://github.com/hyperledger/iroha/tree/master/test/load — soak tests

My employer is a Japanese start-up maintaining the project

What kind of machines and how many do you expect to use (see: https://www.packet.com/bare-metal/)?

We would like to use https://www.packet.com/cloud/servers/x1-small/ 31 servers, as we want to test 3f+1 configuration where f equals to 10 nodes

What OS and networking are you planning to use (see: https://support.packet.com/kb/articles/supported-operating-systems)?

Ubuntu 18.04

Any other relevant details we should know about?

None

+1, assuming @vielmetti @jacobsmith928 can confirm that 31 smalls for a few weeks is OK and might offer some advice on regions.

neewy commented 5 years ago

Awesome

jacobsmith928 commented 5 years ago

Howdy all, this is fine. Please use c1.small (we have more inventory). A great location would be SJC1. If you need them distributed, please check with me so we can arrange. Looking forward to the results!

@neewy I have created your project and sent you an invitation from Packet. Please let us know if you have questions. Thanks!

@taylorwaggoner @jacobsmith928 @dankohn thanks! This is going to help a lot

Here is just a small thing: I don't see any servers available, but I can create them. Am I supposed to do that? In that case we will create 31 server c1.small in SJC1 (or somewhere else?)

Here is a screenshot so that you can understand it better. Thanks!

@neewy, wanted to check in and see how your tests are going. Have you completed them?
