infrastructure resource request for KubeArmor #235

Closed nyrahul closed 1 year ago

First and Last Name

Rahul Jadhav

Email

r@accuknox.com

Company/Organization

KubeArmor

Job Title

Engg Lead, Maintainer

Project Title (i.e., a summary of what do you want to do, not what is the name of the open source project you're working with)

Request is for two purposes:

  1. Automate e2e tests (onboard as GH runner) as part of CI pipeline.
  2. Maintainers to use this for manual e2e tests.

Briefly describe the project (i.e., what is the detail of what you're planning to do with these servers?)

  1. KubeArmor is a CNCF sandbox project for runtime security with special focus on inline attack mitigation.
  2. KubeArmor operates on both X86 and ARM platforms and we need to automate regression tests with both platforms.
  3. Some advanced tests require bigger workloads to be deployed and hence need better server resources.

Is the code that you’re going to run 100% open source? If so, what is the URL or URLs where it is located? What is your association with that project?

Yes. https://github.com/kubearmor/KubeArmor I am one of the maintainers of the project.

What kind of machines and how many do you expect to use (see: https://metal.equinix.com/product/servers/)?

2 x m3.small.x86 1 x c3.large.arm64

What operating system and networking are you planning to use?

Ubuntu 22.04

Any other relevant details we should know about?

Had to select c3.large.arm64 since no other ARM option was available. We could use less resource ARM server if available.

@nyrahul invite sent!

Many Thanks. Received the invite. Signed up. After signing up, I have selected a server and it shows up cost in the context. My assumption is that we wont be charged for this. If this works ok. I will sign up for another server as per the requirement.

Once again many thanks for the support.

idvoretskyi commented 1 year ago

@nyrahul correct, the cost is covered by https://www.cncf.io/community-infrastructure-lab/

vielmetti commented 1 year ago

@nyrahul Please deploy the arm64 system in our DC data center to help balance out the load.

Got it. I could see ARM64 server listed in DC data center.
