Not possible to select control points in Raster Align tool #853

Describe your issue

This has actually been a problem for all versions dating back at least 2 years ago. I tried it again today with 2020.12 hoping it had been fixed, and it is still broken. Here are the steps:

  1. Load mesh.
  2. Import raster.
  3. Show Current Raster Mode.
  4. Create new point.
  5. Pick point on mesh.

Double-clicking on areas of the mesh does not add points. This is the same behavior for rasters. There is no way to select points on either. Even if points were selected, there is further no way to project rasters onto meshes, so this would have to be fixed / implemented before point clicking, of course.

I have just confirmed on two Linux machines (in separate locations), three Windows machines, and one Mac that point-picking does not work in 2020.12 at all, for any of the tools. The only exception is the "point picker" itself, which uses right-click. Any other function that requires double-clicking for selection will not work. Again, this has never worked as far as I can recall. I presume it remains unfixed because no one is using this feature.

As a matter of fact, even if you input the points manually in the mutual correspondences window, they do not show up on either the mesh or the raster. So it's not just the selection process itself that is non-functional. The entire tool does not work.

As of April, 2023, this issue remains unresolved. I have experienced the same issue on Mac OS Ventura, Intel.

I would really vote for fixing this feature! Otherwise getting precise alignment of rasters to model is non-functional.

Thanks!
