Dr. Gore's suggestions #7

Reproducing these here, so we don't have to search in the list posts for his feedback.

A number of comments:

  1. Mission

Are you interested in working with IT services to help linux users access university resources?

  2. Membership

This section does not exclude non-CNU-affiliated parties. Is this desirable/necessary (according to OSA)?

  3. Rank-Holding Members

    a. There needs to be a list of at least two rank-holding members and their duties. Otherwise there's no method for new positions to be approved. b. By whom are official titles created?

  4. Elections

    a. committed -> committee b. Define "interested parties"

  5. Funding.

    a. Who appoints a treasurer? (and it's the Treasurer who is appointed, not the position). b. "A Bank Account" is too specific. Better to say "Club Monies."

Those are my contributions for the moment.

We can discuss that with OSA tomorrow before deciding if it's something we have to amend.

My hunch is that, while we define 'active members' in the constitution today, future ratifications will introduce 'trusted members' in addition to this, who have certain special rights and duties to the club.

It would not surprise me were we to require that 'trusted members' be CNU-affiliated, should they oversee responsibilities that affect "CNULUG the university-afiliated club" and not just "CNULUG the band of people who use free and open source operating systems".
