An authoritative list is provided under NBN taxanomic database. Note this list is available with WELSH species names and is therefore is also BILINGUAL - see no. 1.1. This list could be used as part of the species selection criteria or semantic matching capabilities.

To be available (or even configurable) within the survey authoring process, perhaps some pre-canned lists could be offered (after being made available by a more technical support person)? For instance, a number of fields and interaction formats could be available and appropriately used by the nature of survey. This includes the use of combo or list boxes to record strings from controlled vocabularies.
