Altitude issue as reported in Mission Planner in 2.0.38 or 2.0.39 AC2 beta(s) #227

Arducoper NG or ACM? ACM
What steps will reproduce the problem?

1. Install ACM beta revision(s) 2.0.38 or 2.0.39 via Planner hex file or
Arduino compile/upload.

2. Configure the ACM/AC2 via either available config method in 1.0.54 Planner
(CLI mode or Flight mode)

3. Connect via USB or XBee 900.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

The expected result, upon either type of connection, is for the altitude tape
in Planner to go to 1 foot & subsequently show the AC2 altitude as the quad is
raised and lowered by hand. What happens is the Planner altitude tape goes to
449 feet (or 137 meters) and remains frozen there regardless of quad movement.
These symptoms appear on my APM/AC2, as of today, in any release later than
revision 2957. It's as if the sonar is being ignored in AC2 operating code as
CLI -> test -> sonar works as expected across ALL versions.

The other periodically appearing condition in these same releases is upon
approximately 1 in 3 USB ONLY connections to an already running AC2, the gimbal
rolls uncontrollably upon connection and doesn't stop, even after arming the
quad. The gimbal never exhibits these symptoms after an XBee connection nor
using AC2 verions <= R2957.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

ACM2560, Oil Pan, Rev. H, MB1200 sonar.
Mission Planner v1.0.54
Windows 7 OS
AC2 beta revisions 2.0.38 & 2.0.39

Is this just a cosmetic error (display in Mission Planner) or does it affect
flight?

Quad flies fine in Stabilize mode. Unwilling to try low-altitude Alt-hold under
these conditions. Any other way I can answer that question?
