RFE: "blame" functionality for dashboards #3726

I leave a window with cockpit's "System" view open on my workstation, and I sometimes see spikes of activity on the different graphs: CPU, memory, network, disk IO, and find myself wondering "what's doing that?".

It would be nice to:

Interesting idea. Worth taking into account when redoing the dashboards or server summary. @andreasn did you put any thought into this area?

I like this idea a lot, and I've seen other software do it. I'll try to fold it into the dashboard work design that is underway.

Some more brainstorming: maybe show sparklines showing:

(Not sure if all these ideas are sane/useful, am just brainstorming)

(actually, it's not so much "network topology" I was thinking, but perhaps more like Wireshark's "conversations" idea: pairs of endpoints)
