Investigate hardware alternatives #4

Current implementation is running on Raspberry Pi (any minimum version? likely not), but there may be other open hardware alternatives, or a desire to be flexible to work on many single board computers.

We should think about how we want to investigate this through the first iteration of improving the current implementation
