Youtube Home Page: bring back "add to Watch Later" button in video thumbnails #1201

Open allanlaal opened 2 years ago

allanlaal commented 2 years ago

PROBLEM:

Youtube "updated" its Home Page design recently: now the Save to Watch Later option is buried under click on ...Save to Watch Later or: Hover on video thumbnail for *many* seconds until the new expanded thumbnail menu opensclick "Watch Later"

the "add to Watch Later" button used to be in the top right corner of every video thumbnail on hover on the Home Page aswell

SOLUTION:

add a "add to Watch Later" button to every video thumbnail on Youtube Home Page

suffer

RELEVANCE / SCOPE:

useful for ALL users using Watch Later to watch interesting videos later, not immediately

"SIDE EFFECTS":

no conflicts, restores old behaviour, does not interfere with the new crappy UX of the same behaviour ⚬ _CONTEXT_:

Youtube Home Page

SHORT Table (Summary)
Problem no WL button in Video thumbnails on Home Page
Solution add it back
Alternatives none
Scope All users
Side effects none
Context Youtube Home Page

Any idea if / when this will be added? New interface is horrid, made worse by the fact it malfunctions if you have a long list of videos in your subscription notification page so the only way to get a video into Watch Later is to load it in a new tab, switch to it, add it to the list, and then close the tab.

Would be REALLY slick if the button would expand down when hovered over that would allow you to add the video to any of your existing playlists. If you just click on the button itself, it'd add to your watch later list by default.

FYI, I found a workaround for this crappy 'feature' they put in...

Go to your account picture, click Settings, then Playback and performance. Uncheck the bottom option called 'Video previews'. BAM - the watch later button is again overlaid on the videos.

Stupid, much like google for breaking their site as they did, but effective.
