(Max. width within the page) is good but it would be better if the video player would keep the size at the videos original ascpect ratio and not scale max width or height.

I use 1440p monitor and it shows black bars, yes you can hide them but the controls are out of the video player.

+1 there are problems with all modes, normal , full height, old alternative, every one has some downsides :(
