Toggle off the github panel on the home screen? #2535

Concise Description

This bottom panel or background animation effect causes unnecessary GPU usage. In my case it is 30% of the GPU load. Add an option to disable the whole bottom panel.

hi! :) @xeophyte technically the panel is just like any website or better (and smaller) and i measured no difference without it. (anyways a toggle is somewhere down my todo-list). And you (or who tries with no experience🎉) can also successfully add this toggle and making the frame conditional to it.

While your gpu is running rather idle at 300mhz (so 30% is little. If it has a max. of 3000mhz, then only 3% were used that moment.)
GPU might be doing several things. One thing you can try first is closing the "GPU Process" in chrome or using an empty session and no other programs opened.

I have the same problem on firefox, but it has 20% gpu. To fix the problem, just get rid of the animation that is in the background at the bottom of the bottom panel.

Hi, can you assign me for this task? I will add the toggle
