Bluelight filter artefacting for black colours #78

Open MysteriousFigure opened 5 years ago

MysteriousFigure commented 5 years ago

When the extension is turned on, there is a lot of compression artefacting on black colours, and it makes darker videos very annoying to watch - this issue is solved when the extension is turned off, but I can't find a setting in the extension to turn off any kind of compression

See Images below: (Top with extension, bottom without)

Artefacting (Extension Turned On) No Artefacting (Extension turned off)

right click and choose stats for nerds and tell what your codec is with the extension enabled and then when it is disabled.

ghost commented 5 years ago

if its avc or mp4a or both then that could be the cause as those have less quality.

MysteriousFigure commented 5 years ago

I had a look and it lists vp9 and opus (video and audio respectively) as the codecs, regardless of whether I turn the extension on or off.

Oh ok well it is a bug then. hopefully it gets fixed on the 2.0 release.

What is the value of "General" -> "Night Mode" -> "Bluelight"?

MysteriousFigure commented 5 years ago

The Value is 3 - I have noticed that anything above 0 seems to cause the artefacting, so I suspect it may be something to do with the way the bluelight fliter processes the video content.

ghost commented 5 years ago

Bluelight feature removes blue color, turn it off to keep the blue color (avoid artifacts)
