Set HQ video preview thumbnail instead of a video frame when autoplay is DISABLED

Hey gyus ! Im loving your awesome extension for a long time now its freakin amazing ! But a preview image seems not working properly. Im talking about preview image of a video with autoplay DISABLED function. Most of other extensions and tampermonkey scripts (like HTML5 autostop) showing author assigned HQ preview image, but ImproveTube shows one of first frames of a video itself instead user preview. Actual for v3.106 now, so does with earlier versions.

Im using CentBrowser 4.3.9.248 Official, x86 (Portable) Chromium 86.0.4240.198 on a Windows 10 x64 pro 1903 (18362.356) My Player settings:

Preview image quality reference: For the maximum resolution version of the thumbnail use a url similar to this: http://img.youtube.com/vi//maxresdefault.jpg

• For the high quality version of the thumbnail use a url similar to this: http://img.youtube.com/vi//hqdefault.jpg
• There is also a medium quality version of the thumbnail, using a url similar to the HQ: http://img.youtube.com/vi//mqdefault.jpg
• For the standard definition version of the thumbnail, use a url similar to this: http://img.youtube.com/vi//sddefault.jpg

Pros and cons of current design. cons:

• as you say displays random first frame of video
• pauses but the player keeps buffering couple megabytes of video

pros:

• you can quickly hover over timeline nd see the seek thumbnails
• you can see video length

Ideally we would replace Video element with HQ thumbnail and somehow keep lower player section with progress-bar, play button and video length display.

• duration is available in \<meta> tags etc (also used in the speed-watching music exception).

• can we reduce that? or only buffer the timeline? how much of that is for the timeline?

  @Matr0x @adeep will what will you appreciate more, the thumbnail only (without timeline and buffering) - or both thumbnail and buffered timeline?

  • either way the thumbnail should be a little smaller than the player area i.e. margin/padding 0.5vw+0.5vh or so, because thumbnails are meant for small size / annoying when larger.

Hi, I prefer thumbnail without buffer. Because it is usefull when opens multiple or background tabs. But it suits me either way. Thanks

@ImprovedTube i use YT watchlist all the time. If this feature will store and shows me a deleted videos title, i will sure use it :D
