Quick search window disappears if the reference is incorrect #149

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Go to a reference with the quick selector.
2. Mistype the reference.
3. An error message appears.  Press OK.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I expect the reference window to stay up so that I can correct the mistyped 
reference.  Instead, it disappears.
