What steps will reproduce the problem?
Running atv 2 xbmc ...
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

Error messages 
What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
apple tv 2 via xbmc

and are you allowing your mysql server connections from IP other then the 
loopback 127.0.0.1? This is a very common problem where people don't realize 
that mythtv installs and mysql server does NOT normally allow connection from 
other ip's. If you're not familiar with mysql commands I would suggest 
installing phpmyadmin which give you a GUI within a web broswer to change 
privelges to the mythconverg database. Google is your friend here. I doubt this 
mysql connection issue has anything to do with mythbox. Just my 2 cents.

Thank you for responding to my problem ....
Yes I do have me ip as the one you provided still giving me a error... By any 
chance is there a specific user name or password ? As far as for the phpadmin.. 
Is there a link that u can provide me ??

it seems many of us are having the same issue I would like to know if I ned to 
add a server on my windows pc or just run from appletv if from apple tv ...do 
we set a specific server ip and passwords?
in the mysql Db settings it has settings for Hostname;port;database name;user 
and password

what we have to fill for hostnamr, port, database user password

Same problem here... 
I input my Hostname (my home network title) and the password for it, no better. 
Can't connect to MySQL server.

I also have the same problem.cant connect to mysql. I change the localhost to 
my apple tv ip address but still getting this error

I am alson having this problem.  I have a jailbroken atv running 5.0.2 in XBMC 
eden v11.0, with mythbox 1.1.0.  Seems like every solution involves a terminal 
command, but this is a Atv running XBMC.  there are only 5 items really that 
can be changed.  I entered the same ip as my atv2, i changed the password, 
which seems to make no difference.  As for the database name i left it as 
mythconveg.  its not connected to anything so i dont see why i would change it 
its not linked to a computer..

any thoughts?
